Artisan Series, in conjunction with Bombay Sapphire Gin and Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation. This nationwide art competition aims to discover the next big names in both urban photography and multi-media arts, and to celebrate today’s diverse up-and-coming artists on a national stage. International Visions Gallery will host an exhibition of thirty top contestants from September 9 – October 2, 2010, with an opening reception on Saturday, September 11 from 6.30-9pm.
This September, International Visions Gallery will serve as the Washington, DC exhibition space for 30 finalists’ works, selected by a celebrity jury panel. Other galleries collaborating with The Artisan Series, in order of exhibition dates: Detroit – G. R. N'Namdi Gallery (opens Sept. 3); Dallas – Dallas African American Museum (opens Oct. 1); Houston - Houston Museum of African American Culture (Oct. 8); and Chicago – Gallery Guichard (opens Oct. 16). The Artisan Series at International Visions will run from September 9 – October 2, 2010.
Across all markets, a total of twenty artists will advance to the Art for Life exhibition, held during Art Basel Miami Beach in December 2010. From that group, two finalists will be invited to exhibit at Rush Arts Gallery in New York City in February 2011 (www.rushartsgallery.org).
Bombay Sapphire Gin will hold multiple events in the downtown Washington area to mark the exhibition at International Visions Gallery: Eatonville (September 8, 2010 6-8pm), Busboys and Poets (September 9, 5.30-7.30pm), Masa 14 (September 13, 7-9pm), Ben’s Next Door (September 15, time TBD) and Policy (date & time TBD). A reception at International Visions Gallery (September 11, 6.30-9pm) will kick off the exhibition.
