Fernando Amorin

Fernando Amorin was born in the city of Cajamarca, located in the northern highlands of Peru. The presence of rich Inca culture and the stunning beauty of the Andes inspired his love of vibrant color and pattern, contributing to his creative and purposeful artistic vision.
In 2007, he graduated from Lima’s Catholic University with a degree in the Visual Arts. For the next two years, Amorin studied the traditional techniques of ancient Inca weaving from a master artist based in Ayacucho, a place said to be the center of Andes visual culture. He learned to represent the ancient history and folklore of Peru through this intricate process. The experience shaped Amorin’s own artistic vision and approach; he became dedicated to developing a collection of weaving that reflected multiple facets of life: past and present, real and imaginative.
A series of successful exhibitions in his homeland elevated Amorin to an international stage. He was invited to showcase his tapestries at the Embassy of Peru in Washington, D.C. (open August 20th). International Visions – the Gallery has jumped at the chance to simultaneously feature this emerging artist’s impressive work from Saturday, August 22 through Saturday, August 29. For this week only, we will have a limited number of one-of-a-kind tapestries available for viewing and purchase. Amorin will join us on the first evening of the exhibit to share his vision, experiences, and intriguing techniques with gallery patrons.

You will find that Amorin’s tapestries, which take several months to create, are infused with energy and passion. This young man’s ability to create such detail and dimension proves that he is well on his way to establishing himself as a master of his craft.

Please join International Visions – the Gallery in welcoming and celebrating this rising artist from Peru. For more information, contact us at 202.234.5112 or intvisions@aol.com.
