Jefferson Pinder began
his visual arts journey working in the medium of collage. Inspired
by David Driskell, Romare Bearden and Robert Rauschenburg, Jefferson
cuts and slices print media to explore Afro-American identity. Pinder
is also currently collaborating with filmmakers to created performance
art short films. Most recently his films have been featured at the
Woodstock Film Festival in NY and Studio Museum of Harlem. Jefferson
earned his B.A and MFA from University of Maryland. Jefferson was
a 2002/2003 recipient of the University of Maryland David C. Driskell
Center for the Study of the African Diaspora Fellowship. His other
honors include the Artist Trust GAP Grant Award and Sadat Peace
Art Prize.
