Sculptor
Alex Bay explores mixed media in a unique way, creating tensions
between paintings and sculpture. Driven by his passion for the art
of construction, Bay geniusly transforms simple materials into uniquely
crafted sculptures using electronics and electromechanical devices
with tools such as computers, video cameras, and electric arc welding
machines, as well as brushes, chisels, and hammers. He trains in
computer animation, graphic design, video editing, and production
which he also uses to construct his sculptures and to incorporate
viewer-interaction with his works. Mr. Bay studied under the late
Gene Davis of the Washington Color School, but his artistry is largely
self-taught. He has shown in the Washington DC area with his latest
exhibition at the Caelum Gallery in New York.
