Donna Brown



Donna Brown is a member of
"The Gumbanggerri' people that originate from Northern New South Wales, Australia. As a renowned Koori (Aboriginal) artist, she shares a unique vision of her and her peoples' stories displayed in her paintings, textiles, mosaics, and multimedia. She trained in fashion and textiles at Sydney's University of Technology and has completed an artist-in-residency at the Australian Print Workshop. Besides facilitating many artist workshops in community schools and festivals, Brown was commissioned by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and Mirimbiak Nations, to create many prints. The upcoming, aboriginal artist's work has appeared in numerous publications, such as Artlink, Yarmbler, Arena, Australian National Geographic and Raiki Wara, Long Cloth from Aboriginal Australia and the Torres Strait.
Also a lecturer in Multimedia to Indigenous people at Open Channel, she has been commissioned to create award winning web sites by the Australian Film Commission and Boomali. Donna Brown currently resides in Melbourne, Australia where she is committed to spreading word on Australian Indigenous culture and art through her recent exhibitions held at the Emerald Hill Gallery, Tandanya in South Australia, National Gallery of Victoria, Westpac Gallery and Gallery Gabrielle Pizzi.
