Artist, Tim Davis in the current
show entitled "Another Chapter" focuses
on his ever present themes; the changing conditions
of the human spirit and the interactions in the context
of relationships between people. He describes his
work as "complex on the surface, but simple in
content." "The content is a personal understanding
of the human spirit and my interpretations of love,
faith, hope, despair, pain, sorrow and loneliness.
I look inward for my spirituality and trust my feelings,
which are ultimately manifested on the surface."
Davis explores transparent imagery, 3-D textures,
and multiple layering of paint in his compositions.
The colors used in this body of work are very intense,
creating a mysterious environment within the painting
and for the viewer.
Davis received his master's degree from the University
of Illinois and studied with artists Frank Gallo and
Bill Carlson. He has exhibited widely in Chicago and
in the Washington, D.C. area. Currently his work is
being featured at The Embassy of the Republic of Ghana,
Washington, D.C. in the exhibit entitled "Ancient
Traditions- Contemporary Forms." Davis is the
owner and director of International Visions - The
Gallery in Washington, D.C. He has many paintings
in private and corporate collections, including The
Freddie Mac Corporation and The Tarble Arts Center.
