Tim Davis
Director

Tim (l) talks with Bill Dorsey at his opening at The Gallery

Timothy Davis, Owner and Director of International Visions Gallery, has represented artists from all over the world. While Tim has had several years experience in researching, consulting, and teaching the arts, it has been within the last six years, that he has introduced fine original art by highly accomplished national and international artists to the Washington area through his gallery. The vast and wide-ranging works that have come through International Visions Gallery express reflections of life and cultures in countries such as; Australia, Zimbabwe, Russia, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, South Africa, and Haiti just to name a few. As the gallery’s founder, Tim's vision is for the gallery "to be a vessel of good will for all people who walk through the doors, and to establish through art, a milieu that inspires warm smiles and spirits."
He received his Master’s Degree from the University of Illinois, where he studied with artists Frank Gallo and Bill Carlson. In 1979, he was awarded an Academic Fellowship from the University of Illinois. Tim was then honored by the National Endowment for the Arts with an Arts Management Fellowship in 1984. He continued to work for the arts in the Washington metropolitan area as a consultant with the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities, D.C. Art Works Murals Project, Council on Foundations, and Arlington County Arts and Planning Commission. As a painter, his focus has been to utilize themes that represent the changing conditions of the human spirit and the interactions of relationships between people. The colors used in his work are very intense, creating a mysterious environment within the painting and for the viewer. He describes his work as "a personal understanding of life, and the struggles of being alive on earth in this space and time." He explores transparent imagery, 3-D textures, and multiple layering of paint in his compositions. Davis has exhibited widely in Chicago and in the Washington, D.C. area. He has many paintings in private and corporate collections.
